Traditionally used for inflammatory conditions, boswellia serrata may be used for chronic pain issues and inflammatory bowel conditions, including Crohns Disease and Colitis. It also has anti-carcinogenic and anti-tumor properties, as well as blood lipid lowering properties. The active ingredients in boswellia are triterpenoids called boswellic acids. The extract used for herbal preperations is the gummy resin obtained from the trunk of the Boswellisa Serrata tree.
